CCSPCA Offers 28 Free Spays or Neuters for World Spay Day

In celebration of World Spay Day, we offered 28 free spays and neuters! Our spots filled up within 2 hours with an assortment of dog and cat breeds, sizes, and gender. Clients brought their pets on Tuesday, February 28, 2017, for their surgeries. Our Spay and Neuter services veterinarian and staff performed the surgeries and care for these animals. Our clients were extremely thankful for these free services.Spaying and neutering pets is not only a proven way to reduce pet overpopulation, but altering pets increase their chances to live longer and healthier. There are medical and behavioral advantages to spaying/neutering pets. According to the American Veterinarian Medical Association (AVMA), spaying or neutering pets can dramatically reduce or eliminate the risk of developing certain types of cancers in both males and females. Additionally, altered dogs and cats are less likely to mark their territory, wander and become lost, get hit by cars while searching for mates, and are less likely to bite or become aggressive.Created as Spay Day USA by the Doris Day Animal League (DDAL) in 1995, World Spay Day is now a program of The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS), Humane Society International (HSI) and Humane Society Veterinary Medical Association (HSVMA). This year, February 28 is designated as World Spay Day with spay/neuter events taking place throughout the entire month.
