Roosters and Chickens Seized from Fresno County Property

Our Humane Officers responded to a call in West Fresno County regarding possible illegal cockfighting on September 22, 2017. After examining the property, they found enough evidence of illegal implementation materials for the conditioning of fighting roosters to remove over 270 roosters and hens from the property. Over 200 roosters and hens were transported to the CCSPCA to receive behavior and health assessments. Unfortunately, some of the roosters were too violent due to their fighting conditioning that they had to be euthanized on site. Our Humane Officers are proud to say they have cracked one of the largest cockfighting rings in Fresno County. The investigation is still ongoing and our Humane Officers will be submitting a request for charges to the District Attorney. We encourage you to report all possible signs of neglect, abuse, abandonment, and illegal animal fighting to the CCSPCA at 559-233-7722.
